Maurizio Colella marks the music with his X-trademark sound!

Hoovering the EDM scene since the young years of the millennium, Italian born DJ and producer Maurizio Colella marks the music with his X-trademark sound. Switzerland has been the home base for his studio – the place where he remixed Axwell, Dubfire, Armin van Buuren and Deadmau5, to name but a few. Though his remixes have made his name rise, it have been his ‘Casa Grande’ and recent hit ‘Hoover’ that really ranked him high on the list.

This time, he’s doing it vocal style himself – by teaming up with singer/songwriter Tamra Keenan for his new prog-houser ‘Out Of The Rain’. Gentle vocals, deep syths and sounds carrying you to the darker side of house music. A side of EDX we’d love to see more.

‘Out Of The Rain’ is now exclusively available on Beatport.com, including remixes by Mischa Daniels and Sebastian Krief & Roman F.

New releases by Thrillseekers vs M.I.K.E., Lemon & Einar K, Winter Kills, Armin van Buuren and more!

Armin van Buuren vs Sophie Ellis Bextor – Not Giving Up On Love
When two musical worlds collide, something special happens. A fusion of pop and trance music is exactly what the brand new single of Armin van Buuren, together with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, represents. ‘Not Giving Up On Love’, combining the best of both worlds, is the second taste of his ‘Mirage’ album.

The follow-up to the more dance floor-oriented ‘Full Focus’ is a warm, melodic blend of pure feel-goodness. Sophie’s vocals blow you away from the very moment she hits the first note. After the first, original release, that included remixes by Jorn van Deynhoven and Dash Berlin, Armin now presents his very own club remix of the track, along with an interpretation of Canadian producer Glenn Morrison and house approach by Dutchman Mischa Daniels.

Though the original and album version was already danceable from first till last beat, it’s Armin’s deeper and more electro-feel remix of ‘Not Giving Up On Love’ that draws you in completely. It shines a different light on the track, making it more dramatic and fit for the peak-time moments on the floor. The long-awaited club version of the track that’s currently haunting the summer festivals and club parties around the globe.

Glenn Morrison, prog-virtuoso by heart, stayed close to the track’s original surroundings, but also explored a more synth-driven, progressive-trance way to dancefloor mayhem. His remix brings out the tenderness and fragility of the track – without ever making it lose its power.

Last but not least, Mischa Daniels, who’s about to release his debut album, brings out a clean-cut house remix, fresh from the studio and ready to make you move.

Lemon & Einar K – Tenacity / Felicity
Back in 2004 they kicked off with their first project, ‘Aven’. In the meantime, they’re running their own label and have built a high reputation and very own sound. Norwegian DJ and producer duo Inge ‘Lemon’ Nilsen and Einar Kristiansen, a.k.a. Lemon & Einar K., like to keep you in a happy state of mind – music-wise. When their remix of Markus Schulz vs Andy Moor collab ‘Daydream’ came out, pure euphoria rocked your speakers. But there’s more, for their ‘Hope’, ‘Anticipation’ and ‘The Oslo Syndrome’ also swept thousands of trance lovers off their feet. To keep track of their mission statement, they now present their new EP, with ‘Tenacity’ and ‘Felicity’ working in full effect.

Two dreamy instrumentals deliver a soundtrack for every situation life offers you. ‘Tenacity’ is a bittersweet uplifting track. Its tingling piano-line gives a strong melancholic feel to it, while ‘Felicity’ is pure euphoric uplifting trance with a remarkable melody line. The two of them will put a mind-shivering spell on you – right there on the most crowded dance floors. A duo that perfectly fits its imprint – getting you in an ultimate state of trance.

The Thrillseekers vs M.I.K.E – Effectual
On trance beauty ‘Effectual’ two outstanding DJ’s and producers join forces.

British mastermind Steve Helstrip, beter known as The Thrillseekers, shared 12 years of co-production credits with Chicane, co-wrote Ferry Corsten’s Grammy award winning ‘Right of Way’ album and reworked Sonique’s ‘Feels So Good’ into a worldwide No. 1 record. But his biggest work till date, is probably his ‘Synaesthesia’, one of trance’s biggest classics. It was only a matter of time before he’d team up with another mastermind of trance and progressive. 2010 is that year. The Thrillseekers teams up with no one less than M.I.K.E.. Together, they’re responsible for hours, days and months of music on the dancefloors, with their track releases of 10 years ago still played today and resounding throughout the years. Chances are high that’s also the case with their collaboration, ‘Effectual’.

A very melodic build up, a perfectly timed, short break-down, ca swirl of melody-lines – this is ‘Effectual’! While the ‘Original Mix’ presents the finest in uplifting trance, progressive trance fans will be more than pleased with what can be found on the remix. The ‘Deep Voices Mix’, with its tough baseline and its longer, still very melodic break-down, is a more progressive-like translation of ‘Effectual’. Finish DJ and producer Peetu S, quite an expert in techno-approaches, gave ‘Effectual’ a harder feel to it.

No matter what mix you go for, the melody and warm feel of the track will tempt you in all versions. Two legends united, in full effect.

Coldharbour 100: The Best of Coldharbour Remixed (Part 1)
Just over six years ago, the seeds of Markus Schulz’s remarkable story through Coldharbour Recordings were sewn, through the release of the first ever Coldharbour Selections. After crossing the milestone of 100 releases on the main Coldharbour label, thanks to Markus’ revival of the iconic ‘Perception’ alongside Justine Suissa, he embarks on celebrating some of the hallmark moments from the back catalogue, and reviving them with some modern remixes for 2010.

As part of our continuing Summer of Schulz 2010 strand of events, the month of August will be highlighted by two special releases – accumulating a total of 10 classic Coldharbour tracks remixed.

Let’s introduce you to the five which have been selected for the first package.

Probspot – Blueberry (Rex Mundi Remix)
Every story has a beginning, and for Coldharbour followers, their story begins with the iconic ‘Blueberry’ by Rico Soarez under his Probspot alias. Released in the summer of 2004, the track is cited as one of Markus Schulz’s defining moments as a DJ, and remains one of the biggest anthems in his livesets even today.

With its hallmarked status, the task of remixing it would be daunting for everyone. But one of the biggest Coldharbour heroes of the past couple of years stepped up to the task. Rex Mundi, fresh from his beautiful ‘Opera of Northern Ocean’ release, gives a tough and techy take on the original, whilst maintaining the beautiful melody and soul throughout. Primed for the dancefloors, it has been a regular feature in Markus’ livesets this summer.

Attention Deficit – What (Arnej Remix)
Take yourself back to late 2003, when Markus Schulz was a weekly resident at Space in Miami. One track never left his live playlists from that time, rocking dancefloors across the world and becoming a key component of the Miami ’05 compilation. Dave Dresden and Ryeland Allison’s project may have been short-lived, but their production ‘What’ as Attention Deficit made a huge impression on many listeners for several years.

The original was a huge influence on Arnej, and when he discovered the details behind the Coldharbour 100 project, he specifically requested the opportunity to remix this track in particular. And in typical Arnej fashion, he serves up a chunky and melodic combination that is sure to leave an impression on listeners and dancefloors as we move into the fall season.

Benya – Prometheus (Tucandeo Remix)
Denmark’s Ben Bording contributed a trademark slice of Coldharbour in late 2005 with his effort ‘Prometheus’. Due to its instant rapport with the fans, the track became one of the anthems of the first Global DJ Broadcast Ibiza Summer Sessions season almost a year later, and continues to educate newer Coldharbour fans with the roots of the label today.

Continuing the vintage Coldharbour vibe in remix format are Irish duo Tucandeo, made up of friends Kevin Murphy and Danny Cullen, who themselves have staked their claim as the Coldharbour MVPs for 2010 thanks to tracks such as ‘Waiting for the Sun’ and ‘Far from Reality’. Immediately picking up the Global Selection accolade after being debuted on Global DJ Broadcast in July, they continue to go from strength to strength with this effort.

Arnej – They Always Come Back (Barnes & Heatcliff Remix)
Toronto’s Arney Secerkadic has had a whirlwind couple of years on the production front, elevating himself to one of the most in-demand producers of today. Many believe his signature moment came as Markus Schulz kicked off the 2008 World Tour, debuting his single ‘They Always Come Back’ to a capacity crowd in Vancouver. It laid down a marker for what would be one of the defining sounds of 2008.

Austrian duo David Barnes & Daniel Heatcliff, who turned heads with their remix of Dakota’s ‘Johnny the Fox’ in 2009, return to Coldharbour and give ‘They Always Come Back’ a refresh in their unique and imitable style. Already championed by Markus and Arnej in the 2010 Coldharbour Day celebrations, this will continue to keep dancefloors grooving for the remainder of the year.

Skytech – Cardboard Box (Ummet Ozcan Remix)
Not forgetting those tracks who rocked the Coldharbour world in 2009, Markus selected one of his biggest anthems from the clubs and the World Tour sets for remix treatment, in the form of ‘Cardboard Box’ by Polish duo Skytech. Between its appearance on Toronto ’09 and generating some huge reactions from Poland to Ibiza, the track has been Skytech’s biggest hit to date.

But to give it that tough and upfront treatment, Markus selected one of the biggest talents to come out of the Netherlands in the past year. With tracks such as ‘Timewave Zero’ and ‘Next Phase’ (the latter appearing on Las Vegas ’10), Ummet Ozcan delivers a traditionally bassline-and energy driven effort, which graced the World Tour broadcast in Moscow and received a hero’s response at Poland’s Sunrise Festival.

Five tracks revisited and each a key component in Coldharbour’s history. With another five to come, the celebration of Coldharbour 100 has only just begun.

Josh Gabriel presents Winter Kills – My Friend
After the worldwide success of ‘Deep Down’, Josh Gabriel’s Winter Kills returns with the hotly anticipated follow up single, ‘My Friend’. Featuring a heartfelt and haunting vocal by icey songstress, Meredith Call, the original mix of ‘My Friend’ is a blog-rock tinged romp that brilliantly explores the madness of a bitter breakup.

The remix package covers a wide range of EDM ground. Josh Gabriel’s trance reinterpretation is a spellbinding combination of his pioneering work as the sonic mastermind behind Gabriel & Dresden, melded with a subtle nod to his roots in 80’s electronica.

Francis Preve breaks tradition by delivering a minimal tech opus that begins with a punchy yet spacious groove, peaking into a catchy synth pop sensibility before the vocal finally dissolves into a clever techy pulse.

Keeping with the 80’s vibe, David Call and Noah Neiman’s excursion dives head first into retro new wave, blending the rock vibe of the original with elements of legendary tracks by The Cars and Tommy Tutone, yet remaining perfectly primed for the 21st century indie set.

Rounding out the package is a remix by one of Different Pieces’ most mysterious new discoveries: Secret Panda Society. Seductive and sexy, their remix proves that the Dubstep movement isn’t just a one trick pony. Merging subsonic bombast with atmospherics that evoke the best progressive and ambient tracks, they deliver a version that’s simply stunning by any standard.

Maxi Valvona – Lost In Vagueness
‘Variety is the spice of life’ is the saying Ad Browns lives up to. The London based DJ/producer, known for his ‘Mirrors’ and ‘Chasing Rainbows’, has one thing to share: diversity. Since everybody needs a little alter ego, he came up with a mask of his own: Maxi Valvona. A mask with which he reveals his deeper, moodier progressive side.

His ‘Lost In Vagueness’ is a clear example of that discord. This tempting tracks sits between prog-house and prog-trance, awaiting you with relaxing synth-lines, sea-side sounds and a crafty vocal piece. On the remix, G-Tek created a more uplifting version while Canadian producer Soundprank gave his very own twist to the progger on his ‘Coastal Mix’.

Pedro Del Mar feat. Ridgewalkers – Tears Of The Dragon
There’s quite a few associations to make when it comes to Pedro del Mar. Not only is he a splendid DJ and producer, he’s also the brother of Roger Shah and the Managing Director of Shah Music in Germany. We promise though, after listening to his new track ‘Tears Of The Dragon’, the first thing that comes to mind when hearing his name, is this new collab with Irish DJ and producer duo Ridgewalkers.

‘Tears Of The Dragon’ is mellifluous. With its lovely vocal, a tough baseline and dreamy melody, the three producers combine the very best elements within the vocal trance genre into one track.
The very highlight of the track is, undoubtedly, the strong breakdown – connecting mesmerizing synth-sounds with a beautiful guiter-line in an unusual way.

On the remix, Pedro himself presents his ‘Analog Mix’, which is also available as a dub version. This rework focuses on tough guitar sounds in the back and gives the track a stronger soundscape. British DJ and producer Mike Foyle, last heard on his current release ‘Silver Lake’, increases the uplifting scale a little and awaits you a great combination of lovely violin- and hammering synth-lines

Vegaro – Never Ending / Miss You
‘Never Ending’, produced by Norwegian Vegar Olsen a.k.a. Vegaro, caused quite a stir within the trance community. Appearing in many sets, this uplifting beauty already pleased the crowd to its fullest and will surely continue to do so after its Soundpiercing release. Its captivating buildup, bittersweet in the beginning but absolutely euphoric before climax, sends you on a little trip without actually moving anywhere.

After this introduction to Vegaro’s sounds, you might expect a slow tearjerker behind the track name ‘Miss You’. But none of that. While ‘Never Ending’ takes you to the highest heights of uplifting, ‘Miss You’ invites you to the deep, moody ways of prog trance. On your way, you’ll meet melodic synths and tight baseline, surely to your liking.

Laserkraft 3D – Nein, Mann!
The ‘Nein, Mann!’ virus has already taken over Germany. And guess what? The rest of the world is up next! In the German clubs, this extravagant track turned into a true summer-hit, blasting the night away with a unique German vocal, backed up with tight and catchy electro sounds.

The whole hype around the minimal banger started underground, until it was picked up by the mass and finally secured the number one position of the German dance chart. The two guys behind electro and tech-house duo Laserkraft3d are ready to take their message to a global level: ‘We don’t care about the time, or whatever else – we don’t want to go, we want to dance!’.

Next to Laserkraft3d’s original mix of the floorfiller, we also find a rework of German DJ and producer Tocadisco on the release. After banging releases like ‘Morumbi’ and Nadia Ali collab ‘Better Run’, he now translated this extraordinary track to a tech-house anthem, made to be played out loud!

01. Never Ending
02. Miss You

01. Nein, Mann! (Original Mix)
02. Nein, Mann! (Tocadisco’s TOCACABANA Remix)
03. Nein, Mann! (Tujamo Remix)
04. Nein, Mann! (TiT4TaT Remix)
05. Nein, Mann! (The Only Remix)
06. Nein, Mann! (Radio Edit)
07. Planet Nr. 3 (Original Mix)

A very melodic build up, a perfectly timed, short break-down, a swirl of melody-lines – this is ‘Effectual’. While the ‘Original Mix’ presents the finest of uplifting trance, progressive trance fans will be more than pleased with what can be found on the remix.
